Dr. Maria Pribis is a board-certified optometrist who has been in private practice in Connecticut since 2010. She specializes in comprehensive eye care with a focus on the treatment and management of ocular surface disorders such as dry eye. She has a special interest in the research and development of novel therapies to further enhance her patients' daily lives. She is focused on creative and strategic development with the goal of bringing new treatments into the eye care space as part of the OcuSynex team.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Dr. Pribis received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and her doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Drexel University. She completed her residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where she focused on ocular disease, vitreo-retinal disease, glaucoma, and low vision management.
In addition to her residency specializations, she completed rotations with the Wilmer Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is very active in research and has contributed to prospective clinical trials and experimental research projects for the University of Pittsburgh, Johnson & Johnson, Regeneron, and CooperVision. She has also published several case reports and articles.
In 2015, she was named the state of Connecticut's Young Optometrist of the Year and used the honor to springboard her online blog, OcularPrime, which provides patient information on relevant ocular conditions as well as new treatment approaches.
When Dr. Pribis is not in the office, she teaches optometry board review courses at several colleges and universities across the United States and Canada. She is also a national and international lecturer in the field of optometry and healthcare.
